I think this picture really speaks for itself. It's a metaphor of course. But the look on my face - I can't decide if it's anger, shock, or pain - but then again, sometimes when I feel like the world can only label me....a 'fag'....I suppose I feel all 3 of those emotions.

The world is full of people willing to hate you for a number of reasons. When we are hurt by the words and labels of others, we give them the power to do that. The words mean nothing if they cannot hurt or attack us.
Fag can mean Fabulously Gay to us. Sometimes I walk down the street hand in hand with my partner of 19 years. We show the world our love without shame, guilt, or fear.
Their words mean nothing to me. We know who and what we are. I am out and I am free. I spent years sailing on ships, knowing there were men who would not hesitate to toss me over the side if they found out. After that, no more fear. I told them all—Free at last‚I never looked back.
